Mud Management at the Ranch

Mud, mud, mud at the ranch...I've been reading all about "mud management" online and it is quite involved. Apparently muddy pastures are a much bigger problem with horses, given that they weigh five times what Paco and Luigi weigh...so each step they take creates an even deeper hole than the rather cute holes that Paco and Luigi make. Nevertheless, our area has become very muddy and now we have to add one other little chore to the list for our "low-maintenance" little creatures...periodically picking up and cleaning out their hoofs! (Hooves? Dwarf? Dwarves?). There is something nasty called thrush that they can get from overly muddy conditions. Aside from mud, all is well at the ranch!

Happy and dry in the wonderful dining shelter- worth every cent so far!

Like most cats, Boulder hates to get his paws wet.

Note the mud in front of Paco.
