Bravo's Ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament at the Ranch

Yes, we have to have surgery...
Bravo definitely has a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament. (ACL). He's scheduled to go in on Feb. 22nd for surgery, with Dr. Long performing it. I insisted that he not stay overnight (like most vets, there is no staff overnight!)...so he'll go in early in the morning and I'll have to sign a waiver to take him home that evening...and then the fun will really begin- six weeks of restricted activity BIG TIME...he'll have to be in a crate for the first 24 hours and then absolutely no jumping or running for six weeks. It will make things pretty interesting at the ranch! Maybe now is the time to train the donkeys to carry the dogs around! At least now we know what to expect...it turns out it is a fairly common surgical procedure in dogs- although it is usually done on large "sporting" dogs- or, as our vet said, in high-energy spastic dogs (Bravo fits that description!).

Playing the blues for the donkeys!

The horses and wild turkeys across the way.

Boulder at breakfast...little Bravo off a leash for some fun time!
