More Photos of the Baby House Finches at The Lazy Vegan!

The baby House Finches are getting bigger! I don't want to disturb the nest, so I very carefully take photos by getting up on a chair and reaching up in the general direction and snap away...so I don't at all take the time to focus or anything. In fact, the first time I did this I had no idea the nest was full of eggs until I looked on the computer later! And today when I looked at these photos I saw how big the little birds are getting- adorable beaks!! I'll look again in another week. In other news, the Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act got assigned a proposition number- it will be Prop 2!!! So vote YES on Prop 2 in November! And don't worry...I'll remind all my blog readers!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cute, cute cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Photo from last week- when they were just fuzz balls- and earlier, when they were just eggs!

Ah, the simple pleasures of being a donkey.

Plotting their next move.

"Helping" me clean the pasture. Always a BIG help.

Paco is getting pretty good at picking up the pitchfork!
And now he tries his hand ...er, mouth...at moving the wheelbarrow!

When all else fails, just dump the thing over!

I love my Boulder, even if he gets me up in the middle of the night. More than once.

He's quite smug about the fact that he CAN get me up several times during the night!

Sweet Sunday at The Lazy Vegan

Just a sweet day at The Lazy Vegan...I did some homework for my online class and Randy played tennis, took down some trees and showed property while the donkeys chased one another, the puppies lounged and Boulder napped!
Weegie thinks about the day.
The donkeys raced around a lot today, always stopping when a car or person went by!

This is why they say you should not put donkeys in with goats- because donkeys play too rough! Check out the beginning of Paco's back kick below!

Randy took down some oak trees to open up the view line today. We have TONS of oak trees on the property. Valentine the cat is buried by this one that was taken down- I may have to move her spot.

Boulder woke me up FOUR times last night. Going out, coming in...
The hourly "check-in" time.

Poor Toby. Not even Boulder will toss the ball for him.

My little ad or what-have-you for The Lazy Vegan:

Here I've been blabbing about coming up with a logo for The Lazy Vegan...and I then realized that I didn't really know what a logo was...I was thinking more along the lines of just some little marketing photo to get the word out about The Lazy Vegan. Now I need a SYMBOL! Any suggestions??

DEFINITION: A logo (Greek λογότυπος = logotypos) is a graphical element, (ideogram, symbol, emblem, icon, sign) that, together with its logotype (a uniquely set and arranged typeface) form a trademark or commercial brand. Typically, a logo's design is for immediate recognition, inspiring trust, admiration, loyalty and an implied superiority.[1] The logo is one aspect of a company's commercial brand, or economic entity, and its shapes, colors, fonts, and images usually are different from others in a similar market. Logos are also used to identify organizations and other non-commercial entities.

Lunch From the Garden at The Lazy Vegan!

Bounty from the garden! All of a sudden veggies are ready to be picked ...so today we picked some zucchini and tomatoes and lettuce and the foreman of The Lazy Vegan (a.k.a. Randy) made a wonderful lunch! It really is cool to go to the garden and pick fresh veggies. We had thought the lettuce was going to be too bitter, but it was excellent. In other exciting news, we had a cleaning day here at The Lazy Vegan...Randy took down some tree limbs and I cleaned out the smaller cabin and we loaded the truck with a big load to take to the dump tomorrow. ALSO, I saw my SECOND coyote in a week this morning...when I was coming home from my weekly walk with Snap, one scurried across the road smack in front of me on Ellen Lane (I don't believe I mentioned my earlier-in-the-week sighting while coming back from my walk/run...I saw a small coyote in the field and we made eye contact before he resumed his weird jumping and diving into the ground thing- he was probably after a rabbit). The coyotes don't bother me as long as they don't come around in a pack. I have such a heightened awareness of potential predators now that I even have started to chase the poor deer off our property...I don't want them hanging out here to attract the mountain lion or bobcat that might be around! If I could just have some kind of community meeting with all the coyotes, mountain lions, deer, etc. it would be great- I could explain why I want them off the property and maybe strike some kind of deal with them. HA. The zukes!!!

First head of lettuce!

First and second heads of lettuce!
A ripe tomato!

A picked tomato!

Paco and Luigi are interested in the garden, too.

The foreman of The Lazy Vegan prepares lunch.
Sauted zukes in garlic olive oil with tomatoes over pasta, and a simple salad!

He apparently thinks he's the next Julia Childs- the male version!

Bravo checks in with Boulder.

Solo sneaks out of the pasture.

Cute rabbit from early this morning.
Paco has been very interested in the work going on at the vineyard across the way!

Happy donkeys just hanging out.
