Bounty from the garden! All of a sudden veggies are ready to be picked ...so today we picked some zucchini and tomatoes and lettuce and the foreman of The Lazy Vegan (a.k.a. Randy) made a wonderful lunch! It really is cool to go to the garden and pick fresh veggies. We had thought the lettuce was going to be too bitter, but it was excellent. In other exciting news, we had a cleaning day here at The Lazy Vegan...Randy took down some tree limbs and I cleaned out the smaller cabin and we loaded the truck with a big load to take to the dump tomorrow. ALSO, I saw my SECOND coyote in a week this morning...when I was coming home from my weekly walk with Snap, one scurried across the road smack in front of me on Ellen Lane (I don't believe I mentioned my earlier-in-the-week sighting while coming back from my walk/run...I saw a small coyote in the field and we made eye contact before he resumed his weird jumping and diving into the ground thing- he was probably after a rabbit). The coyotes don't bother me as long as they don't come around in a pack. I have such a heightened awareness of potential predators now that I even have started to chase the poor deer off our property...I don't want them hanging out here to attract the mountain lion or bobcat that might be around! If I could just have some kind of community meeting with all the coyotes, mountain lions, deer, etc. it would be great- I could explain why I want them off the property and maybe strike some kind of deal with them. HA.
