Boulder is Limping at The Lazy Vegan

It was a day of concern (and now an evening of concern) for Boulder at The Lazy Vegan- suddenly he is limping. I noticed him walking a bit funny last night and for the first time ever he didn't wake me up to go out in the middle of the night...I think he knows he's a bit lame and can't run and therefore shouldn't be out at night, even to do his business. I bought some Epsom Salts to soak his paw/leg (can't determine if it is the paw or leg), but he would have none of it- he even bit me twice! So we're just going to wait another day and see if it improves. Everything else about him seems fine. It was weird seeing him hang out in the same spot today- he didn't go far from the house. Poor little Boulder! I'm hoping it is just a sprain from jumping off the terrace or something and that it will heal by itself. In other news, the morning started off with some excitement when a fox wandered into the pasture- I couldn't believe that I happened to be watching from the house- I saw him wander in and then BOTH Paco and Luigi charged after him- he really took off! I was glad to see that they banded together to protect themselves- even it if was a harmless (to them) fox.
Boulder hung out under the tree close to the bedroom terrace all day.
Toby waiting for you-know-what. The ball!

The foreman of The Lazy Vegan is almost done with the deck project- today he painted the primer coat on the top of the siding. It looks red but it will be copper when it is finished.

Bravo spots a bird or a fly or something outside.

A bird blends right in!

At first I thought Boulder might have a broken nail but couldn't find anything wrong with his paws.

He didn't seem all that upset when he was lounging in the sun.

Carrot treat time - taken with the zoom lens from the deck!

I get so much help cleaning out the barn! The boys trudge off to work the fields...oh, I mean to graze!

I love how they do everything together!

Bravo was obsessed with the smells near the old hay stack.

Post Thanksgiving at The Lazy Vegan

Everyone is still in a holiday mood at The Lazy Vegan, post-Thanksgiving! It helps to have a bit of sunshine back. Boulder, Bravo and Toby have really been spending a lot of time lounging upstairs. Poor Solo can't climb stairs any longer- but he's content hanging downstairs in his special bed. I even sneak him treats sometimes when the other dogs are upstairs. He seems to know I'm sneaking them to him and even seems to chew more quietly so they won't hear - seriously! I wouldn't make this kind of stuff up. Once you're attuned to the various animal sounds at The Lazy Vegan, you can tell when a dog is chewing quieter than usual!
Boulder relaxing upstairs.

Not a bad place to hang out!

Bravo tries to wake Boulder up!
Toby is hopeful that a ball might appear.

The foreman of The Lazy Vegan hard at work on the deck.

Solo returns from his solo wanderings. He is the only dog I trust to go off on his own. He goes on his little route and then gives three little barks when he returns!

Boulder catnaps with his toy mice.
I was the carrot-treat provider today, and Weegie refused to take the carrots from my hand- so I put them out on the bench for him. Here he's trying to decide which one looks best!

After carrot treat time, both boys promptly headed back to the big pasture.

I don't know why I post these peeing-in-the-barn photos...I think it is because I'm always in disbelief when the boys waltz in to pee RIGHT after I've cleaned out the barn!!
I should insist that they clean it up themselves.

I could not resist taking the photo below- I strained my back the other day and was talking about how much shoveling up donkey manure hurts it- so one of the donkeys was kind enough to do his biz on top of the bench, thus making it easier for me to clean up. Very kind of him.

Of course, that was just a little pile. There was still plenty to pick up on the ground!

Boulder heads in for lunch.

I got the boys a nifty new salt & mineral block holder- this one hangs up in their dining shelter.

Luigi was especially intrigued with it.
Photos from when Paul came over later on Thanksgiving- Bravo adores him!
Classic Jack Russell jumping!

Toby tries to get into the act, too.

What a well trained (NOT) pup!

Happy Thanksgiving from The Lazy Vegan!

Eating Vegan Pumpkin Pie with Vegan Whipped Soy Topping!
Happy Thanksgiving!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal at Grandma Snap's house- she even made an entire vegan section of the menu for the vegans- including a tofurky! Other highlights of the day included a morning visit from real turkeys- and the donkeys had a late morning holiday walk around the property. Here are just some of the zillions of photos I took to document the day!

You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between soy whipped topping and regular whipped topping...at least that's what I think!

Patty's DOUBLE pie slice plate!

Claire and Grandma Snap getting pies ready!

Drew just refuses to smile for his aunt Diana (or for anyone!).

Aaron!

Anthony!

Paul and Claire kicking back.

Patty prepares the pies.

I marked the one VEGAN pumpkin pie so the non-vegans didn't eat it

Aaron recovers from a taste of tofurky!

Sitting down for the feast! We missed Karina this year- she went to Oregon to celebrate T-Day with Nick and his relatives.
Cute Robin hanging out in Snap's backyard.
Anth relaxes with "old Snoopy".

I took Aaron's photo while leaning over his chair.
My vegan Thanksgiving plate!! Everything is vegan (of course)! The tofurky was great!

Snap carves the tofurky.
Patty adds her non-vegan marshmallows to her potato dish.

The cook takes a wine break!

The platter of tofurky!

Everyone got a chance to wear the turkey hat...here's Paul!

...and Aaron!

Randy tries it on!
Snap had this nifty oven all set up for the tofurky!
Just call her "Snap Stewart"!
Viola!!
The cook tries on the turkey hat.

The turkey hat was a great find. Expect to see it at future T-Day events!

Scott looked great in the hat!
I'm glad I just wear turkey hats and don't eat them!

Earlier in the day, the hat made the rounds at The Lazy Vegan.

The donkeys enjoyed their holiday stroll.

The pups got out, too.

Randy took the boys out for over an hour. At one point, Paco needed to stop to rest his head!
Randy surprised me at the front door with the donkeys- I love it when he does that- it is such a kick to see them at the door when you're not expecting it!
Really lazy crew this morning. Solo was asleep downstairs while Boulder, Bravo and Toby slept upstairs.

Visits from the turkeys on Thanksgiving! They know they're completely safe here at The Lazy Vegan!

This year we sponsered a turkey at Farm Sanctuary- here's how the turkeys at Farm Sanctuary spend the holiday! (Farm Sanctuary photo)

Here's the turkey we sponsered- her name is Hannah (I had actually sent in money for a turkey named Phoenix, but then got a certificate for Hannah- which is fine!).

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL- ESPECIALLY TO THE POOR, SWEET TURKEYS!
