Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!!
The donkeys celebrated the holiday by checking out the pumpkins I took into their corral and dressing up as "vegan chefs"! (Well, as predicted only Paco wanted to dress up this year...Luigi didn't want anything to do with it!). Paco is a great sport and let me put on a chef hat and apron with no problems. However, once dressed as a chef, he displayed no interest at all in actually cooking!! This is one smart donkey...why cook when the hay can be delivered?!
Lots of interest in sniffing the pumpkins.

Paco poses!

This is as much as Weegie was willing to participate!

My little vegan donkey chef!!

He wasn't that enthused, but he willingly stood there while I dressed him.

Somebody dropped the spoon.

These photos are out of order...this was after spending several minutes parading around in costume...Paco suddenly headed for the corner of the corral and gave me his butt, which is clear donkey-speak for "I've had enough"!

"Luigi, you can stop staring at me!"

It was hard not to laugh- I thought he looked so cute!

Checking out the cookware.

After hanging out for a while, it was clear to me that Paco wasn't about to whip anything up!

I should have cut holes in the hat for those long ears!

Luigi was fascinated by the new items to look at, but when he saw me come out with the hats, he headed straight for the side of the barn!

Maybe next year we'll try a more traditional costume ...like a ghost!
My Halloween costume was easy this year- a bunny hat!
I guess I was a "Bunny Mama"!
The dogs and cat opted out this year...they decided to get their Halloween treats but to leave out any tricks!

The Friday Before Halloween at The Lazy Vegan

"I told you to check the calendar first, Ralph!!! We're still too early for the vegan Thanksgiving!"

The turks keep coming around in groups lately as if they're expecting a celebration or something- but they're too early for our vegan Thanksgiving! I'll have to make sure to put out some extra chairs when the time comes! This year I am completely unprepared for Halloween. I haven't taken any Halloween photos yet but did come up with some costume ideas for the donkeys- so stay tuned for some photos tomorrow (hopefully they'll be in the mood to try stuff on!). The foreman continued to clear away trees and brush today while Wasabi spent the afternoon in the kitchen, being a brave bunny among the rest of the loud and obnoxious crew. By the time the evening came, she was very happy to join the foreman upstairs to watch basketball. I told the foreman she needs a little bunny sporty baseball cap - she watches so many sports!
Weegie informs the turks that they'll have to return in November.
"Darn it! Why do we always have to wait for the donkey to tell us when something is?"

The foreman grooms the property.
He's done a remarkable job, as usual!

Bravo goes airborne.

Everyone is really become more and more relaxed around one another!

Yet ANOTHER organic, gourmet salad!

Bravo is the only dog who retains any interest. Solo & Toby just go about their usual business with the bunny around.

Today Paco chased Toby out of the pasture and he must have stepped on Toby's tail or paw- there was a loud yelp from poor Toby! I quickly employed my newly-acquired dog first-aid knowledge and checked him out for any broken bones!
So intent were the boys on grazing today, they didn't notice the absence of carrot treat time!

Wasabi cleans up after dinner. She is so cute when she cleans herself- she takes a long time and even uses her front paws to bend her ears forward for a good cleaning!
Definitely a member of the family now.

She loves to play with piles of towels, and she's really making her mark on them!

Solo's happy to have a look-alike in the house.

Investigating part of the recycle pile.

Upstairs in her home base "warren"!

Peaceful Thursday for Animals to Lounge Around at The Lazy Vegan

The foreman has cleared a bunch of tree limbs and debris on the side of the property...it looks great!
It was a warm and peaceful day for the animals to do what they usually do during the day: lounge around! The donkeys took an extra long morning nap and Boulder seemed to fall asleep while standing up. Even though all the rabbit books say that rabbits sleep during the day, Wasabi was probably the most active of the bunch- she gets particularly active at 5 a.m. when it sounds like she's training for the bunny olympics! The dogs all got baths- Toby also got a haircut- and their flea treatments...so we're good to go for another month!
We have to chuckle at some of her looks!

Lounging in her special willow tent.

Celebrating Halloween a couple of days early!

As soon as I showed her the pumpkin, she stuck out her big teeth and took a big bite!

She soon decided that her toy was more interesting.

Spotted in the pasture: "beached" donkeys!

I love their white bellies!
Weegie looks good in front of the house.

Paco always sighs when I take photos of them napping!
Never more than ten feet apart from one another.

Boulder caught snoozing while standing up.
