What a busy week it has been leading up to Independence Day! At the beginning of the week, Bravo decided to chase after the neighbor's cat and he tore his ACL in the process. Dedicated blog readers may recall that he had ACL surgery just a mere 2 1/2 years ago on his other leg. Now he's scheduled for a second surgery on July 13th. In the meantime, he's hobbling around like the brave & fearless terrier that he is- there's a reason he's named "Rio Bravo" (fierce river!). One day this week included two trips to two different vets with two different dogs! Solo went back to get his bandage off from his ripped toenail episode and Bravo had his leg looked at for confirmation that it is, indeed, his ACL. Which stands for Anterior Cruciate Ligament - but I like what the foreman says it stands for: "Ah Cost Lots"!! It is a very expensive surgery, but of course Bravo is certainly worth it!
Hanging out on the terrace with part of the crew.
Posing by the American flag.
Wasabi was very intrigued by the flag on her cottage!

Solo wore some 4th of July antennas for about one second.
Toby has been extra energetic this week - due to the fact that his canine brothers were both limping around!
There's a long haul ahead for this little pup. I still clearly remember the recovery period after ACL surgery- keeping a terrier "inactive" for six months - first he'll have a huge cast, then he'll have to be confined to a small X-pen for 8 weeks, and then leash walks only for six months!
Patriotic Paco! He was really into it this year. He loves dressing up!
Paco pulled the antennas off of Weegie, which was a bit amusing.
This was all Weegie was willing to put up with!
You could tell that Luigi wanted to participate, but he just doesn't care for dressing up.
The foreman and Paco.

Paco makes a great back rest!
This is about as fun as it gets on the 4th of July at the Lazy Vegan!

"Oh, say can you see..."
Both Claire & Paul came for a visit! Solo loved being held by Claire.
Getting a treat from Claire.
Bravo's always thrilled to see Paul.

Paul arrives.
Bravo escorts him down the path with his three-legged walk.
Claire's amazing zucchini balancing act!

Claire snapped this photo of me putting fly spray on Paco. The flies are so bad right now that I have to reapply the fly spray a couple of times a day.
Saying hi to the donks.
We went to the bunny playground by special invitation this week - it was held on a Saturday due to the holiday, and Wasabi was the only non-shelter bun there! Above is the bunny named Nicolas- he is the one somebody abandoned in a box at the doorstep of the Humane Society. He is in a cage while he waits to be neutered.
This was at the end of the bunny playground session. All the shelter buns were back in their rooms at the Humane Society, while Wasabi watched the humans clean up the room while sitting in her crate!
Remember Lenny? Wasabi had a date with him a couple of weeks ago. He's still looking for a home!
Wasabi was ignoring him. This week a bun named Cynthia took a little chunk of fur off of Wasabi's face!! Apparently she was annoyed that Wasabi was sitting in HER litterbox! Wasabi was fine, but you can see a little hole where her fur should be near her nose!
A deer takes a morning stroll down the driveway.
Bravo all tuckered out.
Boulder displays his new blue collar!
Big stretch and yawn!
The foreman points out how tall the sunflowers are getting.

Grandma Snap showed up at the vet for Solo's appointment- and she brought raspberries and blueberries to munch on!
I spend a lot of time hanging out in the exam room at the vet.
Solo heading off to get his bandage off and his nail examined.
A different exam room a the other vet- they pretty much all look the same! There's never any reading material so I just look at all the charts and displays that are up while the pups are getting their blood taken elsewhere.
Bravo heading off to the vet!
The trio of terriers relax.
I've been finding some great boxes for Wasabi at Costco- they already have "doors" in them!
This photo was taken just moments before Bravo took off after the cat!
Karina was here for a visit and got to see the whole thing.
The foreman carries Miz Wasabi back up to her upstairs "warren".
Pan frying some zukes!
Checking in with the bun.
Wasabi eyes Toby's ball.
Sometimes any old place will do for napping.
Paco expresses himself- as only he can do!

There is a reason this plant is known as the "butterfly plant"!
Twins!

I did not take this photo, but it is the type of snake I saw - a California King Snake- when I had sat down on the cabin deck one evening this week. I was sitting for a few seconds when suddenly the snake appeared from underneath the deck! He was HUGE- had to be over 4 ft. long. He slithered slowly along and I zoomed into the house to find the foreman. I yelled "COME QUICK, SNAKE!!" - because I wanted him to see it- but, alas, the foreman didn't hear the "snake" part and he moved too slowly. So by the time he appeared, the snake had gone away! It seems like I'm always spotting the snakes around here when I'm alone. I think they're cool, but I'm not going to get all warm and fuzzy with them- I leave them alone!
