Rain for the Last Week of March at the Lazy Vegan!

I picked this iris out of the donkeys' pasture!

The Last week of March brought RAIN to the Lazy Vegan...yippee!  I loved hearing the sound of it on the roof in the middle of the night and suddenly the grass seems plentiful for the donkeys...I can tell because they won't hee-haw if I'm a bit late with dinner - they're too busy grazing!  Maybe we'll get lucky and get more rain in April!

Sending MORE good wishes to my Dad as he recovers from heart surgery!

Luigi coming right for me - which is rare for him.  He usually isn't so bold!

Sometimes the donkeys will get "trapped" on other sides of the fence and they are so funny about it - lots of snorting and touching noses before they figure out how to get over to the other side via the open gate!

Out of focus photo of the foreman enjoying a yummy lunch in celebration of a recently closed escrow!
Of course we went to our favorite vegan restaurant!
Lunch dweebs!
Ran into my childhood (and adulthood!) friend, Jennie, at the Farmer's Market!

Love posing by this beautiful coyote in downtown Sebastopol!
Snap (a.k.a. my mama) and I have a lot of fun walking downtown on Sundays!  It is becoming a TRADITION!
Taking a rest from eating her salad.  She leaves her least favorite greens for last...just like a kid!

Cute squirrel gets a drink!

Mexican platter, complete with jicama.  YUM.
So cool...Karina's band, Lungs & Limbs, performed live on the radio!  Here I took a photo of the livestream video as they played.

Love how everything is blooming, even the cactus.
Coming back from my donkey chores to find my precious bun in the living room, ready to party!

One of my resolutions this year is to learn to identify birds.  This one, above, is Gertrude.
Ah...the weekly pose!  You'd think that we'd get bored of this routine, but Paco and I insist on taking a photo once a week.  I may eventually do a book of "weekly poses".  Since donkeys can live up to 50 years with good care, it may be a very thick book.
Lots of garlic makes this homemade marinara sauce extra delicious!
Toby and Wasabi are quite the pair.  Toby is never really sure how to behave around the rabbit.

The evening routine.
Spotted from the upstairs window...lounging donks!
More kumquats!  I kind of like them and I kind of don't...it is an acquired taste...sweet and tart!
Kumquat smoothie!
Soaking up sunshine earlier in the week.

I love how colorful vegetables are!
The transfer of the bun, otherwise known as "the bunny express"!
Milling about one morning.

I LOVE how Wasabi casually grooms right next to the dog.

In her upstairs playground, deciding what to do next!
Nap time!  Wasabi will actually sleep with her head completely down.  It is ADORABLE.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Happy First Day of Spring and More at the Lazy Vegan!

It was a bit of a holiday week at the Lazy Vegan with St. Patrick's Day, the first day of Spring and Aaron Tomashefsky's 21st birthday!  Aaron, my adorable and talented nephew, was born on St. Patrick's Day! Wishing him many happy years of official adulthood!  Happy birthday, Muffin Head!

SENDING LOVE and prayers to my dad for his upcoming surgery early next week!  We're keeping you highest in our thoughts, Dad - all will go well!

Lots of buzzing around blossoms these days!

Farewell to long-time family friend, Ramona - who left this world for her next adventure on March 13th.  I was very impressed with how my mom took over her affairs in the last phase of Ramona's life - from finding her an excellent residential care facility to getting her paperwork in order (an enormous undertaking) and more - spending countless hours making sure that things were taken care of...tasks that nobody else would have done if it weren't for her!  Bravo!  And I hope that Ramona is having fun being reunited with all her animals and friends & family who passed before her.  You can read about Ramona's life in the link  (copy & paste) to her obit below.   Fly free as an eagle, Ramona!

In memory of Ramona - at my mom's house - adorable photo of the dog she left behind (who was thankfully taken in by a nice couple), and a beautiful sculpture - one of the many cool pieces of artwork that Ramona created and left behind (because you can't take it ALL with you!!).

This little woodpecker is in honor of Ramona since the woodpecker is "her" animal on the Native American Medicine Wheel!

Lounging time.

One of the rare times that Luigi will allow his photo taken with me...while he is napping!

Luigi is SO adorable.
Paco finds something across the way interesting.

I found this photo the foreman took a few weeks ago and can't remember if I already posted it!  Brain fade time!  Relaxing with the terriers!
The RABBIT.

Hanging out with Buddy and "Baby".

Buddy is a constant companion for Wasabi.  Faithful blog readers may recall that Aunt Bubba & Uncle Neil sent Buddy to Wasabi years ago.  Little did we know that she would spend endless hours grooming him and hanging out next to him!  He has a few slight nibbles (love bites) around his plastic eyes and his "fur" goes one direction from being "groomed" extensively - but otherwise he's held up very well.  Check out the video of Wasabi grooming Buddy at the end of this post!
Skipping a step!

Ah, the annual St. Patrick's Day photo opportunities...with rather reluctant donkeys!

Paco is such a good sport!
Luigi saw what was going on and made a quick exit!

Getting Paco all dressed up!

HAPPY 21st TO AARON!!!
Beautiful butterfly resting on ground.
More St. Pat's Day!

Another woodpecker.  They love the stack of firewood!

Headed to green grass!
This is the time of year when the male turkeys strut their stuff!

Egret across the way.

Curious bun!

Toby can't make the jump up to the bed any longer, so sometimes I put him up there for a little snooze.

Just a regular morning at the Lazy Vegan!

The weekly pose!
Clean up time!

So helpful.

Always something going on.

My mom and I on our weekly walk downtown - we love the new mural in Sebastopol with a beautiful coyote!
