Poor Toby's Ear Infection, Bravo and the "Slo-Bowl Slow Feeder" and Happy Memorial Day Weekend at the Lazy Vegan!

It was back to the vet for poor old Toby this week - this time for what I thought was a fox tail in his ear but turned out to be a nasty infection!  He was not a happy camper being examined but once we got some pain killers and ear meds into his little canine body he was much better - although the pills pretty much made him incapable of standing!  We were just happy that it wasn't a fox tail - there have been plenty of emergency visits to the vet over the years for fox tails in the mouth, nose and ears AND paws!

In other Lazy Vegan news, the foxes are EVERYWHERE.  I've been setting up the cameras in the yard and it is pretty funny to see a fox duo waltzing around like they own the place - "marking" the garden gate and whatever suits their fancy!  There's even fox scat in odd places.  I wonder what the donkeys think of these nightly visitors!

Bravo is now eating one of his meals a day with his brand new "Slo-Bowl Slow Feeder" - the perfect solution for slowing down the way he inhales his food.  I'm not sure what he thinks of it, but it is necessary for his health so he'd better get used to it!

Happy Memorial Day Holiday Weekend!  As I type this, the flag is blowing in the wind right outside our kitchen window - hanging the flag is probably the only holiday thing I'll do in the next few days!

The boys spend part of each day grooming one another. Adorable!

The weekly pose!
Hanging out with the foreman.

Wasabi likes to check out the dog beds.  This is a new one - Toby has peed one time too many in his old beds, and it was time to chuck them.
The careful contemplation before hopping back up to the kitchen!
Bravo hears me talking about the "Slo-Bowl Slow Feeder"...
He's not sure he approves!

Thanks to the foreman's careful landscape planning over the years, I can photograph beautiful flowers even if I don't remember their fancy names!

Stair climbing just isn't what it used to be for Toby now.  He used to fly up them!
Now it is one at a time. Slowly.

Thought the blog reader might like to see what a full wheelbarrow of urine-soaked pine shavings (from the barn) mixed in with old hay and donkey manure looks like...and it is a tad heavy!
The foreman taking a brief garden break.
Ready for anything!
Rufous Sided Towhee with something to say!

The tail end of a dandelion green going down the bunny hatch!

Toby got a lot of extra attention this week.  He was pretty miserable with the ear problem.

The trio.
This always cracks me up - Toby will absentmindedly step over Wasabi and then just stand there with her underneath and she doesn't seem to mind a bit!

Sometimes he'll be like that for five minutes!

That ridiculous bird again.
Glanced out the kitchen window to see the foreman hard at work again!
Weed-whacking break time!
Break from nothing.
Couldn't resist showing Bravo the latest issue of National Geographic!

Walking downtown with Snap - we had to photograph ourselves by the coyote mural (again) which was being painted!
With the Silk Moon sales clerk - the tunic she was wearing inspired me to get one, too.  I think she looks better in it than I do!
Woo hoo!  Dining out to celebrate a closed escrow!

The donkeys' post dinner stroll.
Strawberry Guava plant is blooming!
So sad - nervous dog at the vet!
Hiding!
On the car ride home.

Being examined!
I love when the clouds show up at the Lazy Vegan!

Quail walking and squawking.
Dinner time!
Weegie hanging out.

Leaping into the living room!

Waiting for the pain meds to kick in.
And after they started working!  He was a zombie and we all got (finally) a good night's rest.

A rare nap (of sorts).
The "Slo-Bowl"!

All the kibble is in a little maze inside a bowl...makes things take a lot longer!

Just in case there's anyone else out there fascinated by scat - this pile came from a fox!
The hummingbirds put on a show each evening right outside the kitchen window.

So tiny!

Standing for a banana treat!
